Take note of the rules for the half marathon

The Vig-Bay Running Club is organising the XXV Gran Bahía Vig-Bay Half Marathon, on Sunday 12th April 2026, starting at 10:00 hrs. at Avenida de Samil in Vigo.

The same route will be used for the Functional Diversity category, which will start at 09:45 hrs.

The XXV Gran Bahía Vig-Bay Half Marathon is a race with an urban and interurban course of 21,097 metres. All those who wish to participate and who are 18 years old in the year of the race may do so.

Each runner participates at his or her own risk and declares that he or she is in good enough physical condition to take part in the race and undertakes to accept these rules strictly.

It is compulsory to fill in the back of the race bib with the information requested on it: name, surname, telephone number in case of emergency, if you have any medical problem (allergy, special care, etc.) or if you are under any specific treatment.

We recommend that all participants undergo a medical examination prior to the event, and all participants accept the risk derived from the sporting activity.

The organisers and collaborating companies cannot be held responsible for any injury or suffering due to imprudence, negligence or lack of physical fitness of the participant.

REGISTRATION

How to register: online through the event's website vig-bay.com, ccnorte.com or at our offices at Club de Corredores Avd. Beiramar 27-1º in Vigo, from 1 November 2025 to 25 March 2026.

The registration fee will be

  • From 1 November to 31 December 2025 → 24 Euros
  • From 1 January to 31 January 2026 → 28 Euros
  • From 1 February to 28 February 2026 → 32 Euros
  • From 1 March to 25 March 2026 → 38 Euros

The registration fee shall be paid by one of the following methods:

  • Through the payment gateway (the whole process is secured by an encrypted data protection security system, which secures the procedure).
  • By bank transfer. Athletes who choose to pay through this option can go to any branch of Abanca or their nearest bank and make a bank transfer to the Vig-Bay Runners Club account with Nº: ES90 2080 5058 91 3040021210
  • Runners also have the option of stopping by our offices at Avd. Beiramar 27-1º and registering and paying in person.

Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies acceptance of these regulations.

Solidarity Bib, in favour of the Juan María Centre, a special education centre in Nigrán. Registration by means of the solidarity bib will have an additional cost of €10. The price in addition to the normal registration fee will go entirely to this foundation. The image of the solidarity bibs will be different from the rest and will have a preferential place in the starting area of the race.

The change to MINIBAY can only be made free of charge until 28 February and the difference will not be refunded. From 1 March, the difference in the registration fee will be paid by bank transfer.

CANCELLATION AND CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP GUARANTEE

Once the registration has been formalised, as the runner accepts these regulations, the registration fee will not be refunded in any case, except to those who have contracted this guarantee of cancellation and/or change of ownership of the race bib, with a cost of 4 euros per registration, under the following terms:

  • For applications before 31 January: refund of 100% of the registration fee
  • For cancellation requests between 1 February and 25 March: refund of 50% of the registration fee or changes at no extra cost.
  • For applications after 26 March, registrations will be considered closed and no refunds can be made.
  • The cancellation guarantee can only be taken out at the time of registration.
  • The amount of the cancellation guarantee is not refundable under any circumstances.
  • However, changes of ownership without this guarantee will be accepted free of charge until 31 January, after which a €4 administration fee will be charged. This change will be made by the bib holder by filling in the requested data (new holder).

CATEGORIES

There will be a General Classification, medals will be awarded to the 3 first and first of the absolute general classification and to the 3 first and first of all the following categories:

  • Junior: 18 and 19 years old
  • Promises: between 20 and 22 years old
  • Senior: between 23 and 34 years old
  • Veterans M35: between 35 and 39 years of age
  • Veterans M40: between 40 and 44 years of age
  • Veterans M45: between 45 and 49 years of age
  • Veterans M50: between 50 and 54 years of age
  • Veterans M55: between 55 and 59 years of age
  • Veterans M60: between 60 and 64 years of age
  • Veterans M65: between 65 and 69 years of age
  • Veterans M70: between 70 and 74 years of age
  • Veterans M75: between 75 and 79 years of age
  • Veterans M80: between 80 and 84 years of age

IMPORTANT: All the ages indicated must be reached on the day of the test.

In the categories it will be necessary to have at least 3 classified athletes of the same sex to be eligible for the prizes of the same category; the athletes of the categories not formed will be assigned to the category immediately preceding in age to the one that corresponds to them.

FUNCTIONAL DIVERSITY CATEGORIES

The following four categories are established in men and women for athletes with disabilities or different abilities.

  • Wheelchair athletes: that do not have mechanisms or gears to help propel them. Only the impulsion with the arms on the rim attached to the wheel is allowed.
  • Foot runners:
    • With functional diversity (people with physical disabilities, cerebral palsy and brain injury)
    • With sensory diversity (blind and deaf)
    • With limited intellectual functioning.

Athletes in wheelchairs, handbikes or similar may not overtake the opening vehicle at any time. If they do so, they will be disqualified from the race. If they ignore this and circulate in front of the vehicle that opens the race, they will do so at their own risk and will be excluded from the coverage of the insurance policies that cover the race.

The only data that the organisation will take into account when making the classifications of any category will be those provided by the runner himself/herself on his/her registration form.

AWARDS

Cash prizes may not be accumulated, with the highest amount being received. These prizes will be subject to the corresponding withholdings according to the Personal Income Tax, with the following distribution of the same being established:

Individual General Men (Time 1:10’19”) Corresponding to an athletic value of 800 IAAF points.

  • 1st General Men - 500 euros
  • 2nd General Men - 400 euros
  • 3rd Overall Men - 250 euros

Grand Total Men - 1,150 euros

General individual Women (Time 1:25’39”) Corresponding to an athletic value of 800 IAAF points.

  • 1st General Women - 500 euros
  • 2nd General Women - 400 euros
  • 3rd General Women - 250 euros

Grand Total Women - 1,150 euros

Overall individual Veterans (Time 1:20’06”) Corresponding to an athletic value of 500 IAAF points.

  • 1st General Veterans - 300 euros
  • 2nd General Veterans - 200 euros
  • 3rd General Veterans - 100 euros
  • 4th General Veterans - 75 euros
  • 5th General Veterans - 75 euros

Grand Total Veterans - 750 euros

Overall individual Veteran Women (Time 1:42’16”) Corresponding to an athletic value of 500 IAAF points.

  • 1st General Female Veterans - 300 euros
  • 2nd General Female Veterans - 200 euros
  • 3rd General Female Veterans - 100 euros
  • 4th General Female Veterans - 75 euros
  • 5th General Female Veterans - 75 euros

Grand Total Female Veterans - 750 euros

Men's and women's teams

  • 1st Team - 200 euros
  • 2nd Team - 150 euros
  • 3rd Team - 100 euros

Total Equipment - EUR 900

In TEAMS, there will be two categories, male and female. Teams may also be mixed and will be included in the men's category. To be considered as a team, the group of runners must be formed by at least 5 athletes at the starting line. For the awarding of these prizes, the finishing times of the first three finishers of each team and category will be added together.

IMPORTANT: Winners who do not make it to the podium lose the right to claim later.

Disqualified runners will not be eligible for a prize or medal.

DISQUALIFICATIONS

This shall be grounds for disqualification:

  • Providing false personal data when registering.
  • Do not do the whole route.
  • Do not pass through the passing controls located on the circuit.
  • Not to wear the bib clearly visible on the chest or to alter or hide the advertising on the bib.
  • Running with the bib allocated to another runner.
  • Failure to heed the instructions of the Organisation's staff.
  • Having given the race bib to be copied and used by another runner.
  • Engaging in unsporting behaviour.

In addition, the race medical service and the organising staff are empowered to withdraw from the race any athlete who shows signs of poor physical condition.

Runners who are not registered or run without a race bib will not be admitted, preventing them from having access to the race in defence of the rights of those who are legally registered.

COLLECTION OF BIBS

Bib numbers will be collected at the “Museo VERBUM - Casa de las Palabras”, located at Avenida de Samil 17, in Vigo (all participants are advised to collect their bib numbers as early as possible).

  • Friday 10 April: 16:00-20:00 hours
  • Saturday 11 April: 10:00-20:00 hours
  • Sunday, 12 April: 08:00-09:45 hours

To collect your race bib you will need to present an official document in paper or digital format.

In the event of not being able to collect the bib in person, an authorisation must be filled in for the person who is going to collect it by presenting a photocopy of the ID card of the registered person when collecting the bib.

IMPORTANT:

  • The race bibs have a built-in disposable chip and cannot be bent or manipulated in any way.
  • The race time will only be recorded if the race bib is worn correctly on the front of the trunk.

TIME CONTROL

The closing of control will take place two hours and forty-five minutes after the start of the race.

The timing will be done by the CHAMPIONCHIP system. There will also be intermediate timing points. Likewise, any runner who has exceeded the established time of 2 hours and 45 minutes, the time limit for crossing the finish line, will run at their own risk.

DEPARTURE TIMES AND DEPARTURE AREA

  • WHEELCHAIRS AND HANDBIKE: 09:45 a.m.
  • RUNNERS ON FOOT: 10:00 a.m.

The departure will take place at Avd. de Samil (next to the hotel).

DRAWER OUTLET

The runner must indicate at the time of registration the estimated time to be achieved, in order to access the drawer corresponding to his/her time and to achieve a smoother start for everyone.

Hares will be available for each of the following net finishing times. 1h30’, 1h40’, 1h45’, 1h50’, 1h55’ and 2hrs.

The only vehicles authorised to follow the race will be those designated by the organisers. For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden to follow the runners in any type of motor vehicle or vehicle on wheels (bicycle, roller skates, etc...).

The Police, Guardia Civil and the judges of the race will remove them from the circuit to avoid any incidents that they may cause to the runners.

GUARDROPA

Athletes will be able to leave their clothes in the bag provided by the organisation when requesting this service at the time of registration. The delivery will be on the day of the race in the vicinity of the bib pick-up located in Samil from 08:30 to 09:30. The race bib must be presented for collection in Baiona. Please do not leave valuables in the bags. The Organization is not responsible for the objects handed in.

TRANSPORT

Buses are available for participants (by reservation at registration):

  • Baiona → Vigo: departure at 08h00
  • Baiona → Vigo (return): from 11h30 to 13h00

It is important to contract this service at the time of registration.

REFRESHMENTS AND ASSISTANCE

Liquid refreshment points are located every 5 kilometres and sponge refreshment points at intermediate kilometres.

The organisation has the necessary medical services to attend to the runner during the race. There will be ambulances located throughout the course and finish line and three field hospitals located in Playa América (km 14), in Santa Marta (km 17), and at the finish line, as well as a motorised medical service inside the circuit.

All registered runners are obliged to fill in the back of the race bib with the information requested on it, name and telephone number of the contact person, in case of emergency, if you have any medical problem (allergy, special care, etc.) or are under any specific treatment.

All participating runners are covered by civil liability and accident insurance, in accordance with current legislation.

The organisers will provide a broom car to be used by runners who do not wish to continue the race or who are forced to abandon it.

All the athletes who finish the race will receive a finisher's medal and a bag that will be given to them in the finish area with refreshments and they will be able to obtain a diploma with their personal best on the CCNorte.com website as well as a video of the finish line. .

In the event that the event cannot be held, the Vig-Bay Running Club will move the event to another date to be designated and will be duly communicated via email, web, Facebook, etc...

Runners, their families, friends and the general public will be able to follow the race live from the Live Results section of CCNorte.com. It will be possible to follow in real time the participants of the race with their bib number.

All participants, by registering, declare that they are aware of and accept the present Rules and Regulations and the Disclaimer and Data Protection Policy. In case of doubt, the Organisation's criteria will prevail.

Disclaimer and Data Protection Statement

All registered participants declare the following: I am in optimal health to participate in the Gran Bahía Vig-Bay Half Marathon and I will comply with all health measures in force at the time of the event. During the course of the competition I will contribute as much as possible to the organisation. Furthermore, I exempt the Organization, sponsors or other participating institutions from any responsibility for any accident or injury that I may suffer before, during and/or after the sporting event, renouncing any legal action against any of the aforementioned entities. The Organisation declines all responsibility for any physical or oral damage that an athlete may cause to third parties while participating in the event. I authorise the Organisation to capture and use my image and/or name in photos, videos or other audiovisual materials taken during the event and disseminate them in their own media, social networks, press and/or internet. I also authorise the transfer of these images to third parties for publication, dissemination, commercial use and/or sale, without expecting any payment, compensation or retribution for this concept. This concept may be revoked upon written request to [email protected] in compliance with the GDPR (EU) 2016/679 data protection regulation.

In accordance with the LOPDGDD 3/2018, we inform you that your personal data will become part of a file, whose responsible is CLUB DE CORREDORES VIG-BAY with registered office at Avenida Beiramar 27-1º, 36202 Vigo (Pontevedra). The purpose of this file is to manage the data of the athletes linked to the Club. If you wish to exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition, you may do so by writing to the above address, enclosing a photocopy of your ID card.
